Everything indicated that November 3rd would be the Canon Day, the day on which the brand known for its DSLR cameras would make history with its new digital movie camera, the C300.
But the timid specification sheet that accompanies the camera with its high price ($ 20,000), leave many people feeling sceptical.
But this date will maybe be remembered for another reason, because on November 3rd, RED finally presented the Scarlet-X, the camera that has all the features that the users were in need of during the last 2 years. RAW video recording, real 4k sensor, super35, a robust body – all of that at a price around $ 10,000.
Sure you are thinking that this camera will not be shipped soon, but they say they will start sending units in December, a month before Canon starts giving out the C300-s.
I think that RED has certainly succeeded in giving a good product at a reasonable price, and it has not been necessary to spend thousands of dollars on events in Hollywood.
