It seems that Canon has kept an ace up his sleeve. The appearance of the Canon 1DX, the camera that seemed to end the dualism between 1D and 1Ds in the professional range, got some professionals a little confused as its “only” 18mpxl seemed too insufficient to replace the veteran 1Ds Mark III. It also didn´t seem to bring substantial improvements in the video mode.
Likewise, the introduction of the new digital movie camera, the C300, has left most of the followers of the brand with a bitter taste in their mouths because of its poor characteristics and high price.
But Canon can still surprise us – they have unveiled the future release of a new professional DSLR with a clear filmic profile. This camera will host the logo “C” for cinema in front, as the C300, and apparently will have the following characteristics:
-Sensor: CMOS Full Frame 35mm (like 5D MarkII, 1Ds MarkIII, etc)
-4K Video. (probably like C300, which mean 1080p)
-Codec: Motion JPEG (good advance)
-24p (hopefully with option to 25p and 30p)
-Unknown price.
